INLD demands CBI probe into Bal Kunj incident
YAMUNANAGAR: A day after Haryana government announced handing over of Apna Ghar probe to Central Bureau of investigation (CBI), the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Saturday sought a similar probe into alleged wrongdoings at Bal Kunj, a government-run shelter home at Chachharuali.
The INLD demand came after workers headed by local MLA Dilbagh Singh held a protest in the city. “It is very strange that even after two weeks, the administration as well as police have failed to solve the mystery behind missing Khushbu and allegations of gang rape leveled by another inmate of the shelter home. This clearly shows lack of will on the part of government,” Singh said, reiterating his party’s demand for a CBI probe.
On May 30, Khushbu had gone missing from Bal Kunj within two hours of her being shifted there from Nari Niketan of Karnal. Khushbu had allegedly escaped with another inmate, who was alleged to have been gang-raped by unidentified persons on the same day.
Soon after Khushbu went missing, deputy commissioner Ashok Sangwan had constituted a committee to probe the circumstances in which Khushbu and the other girl had gone missing. As of now, police as well as administration have failed to find out her whereabouts.
On June 6, Yamunanangar police had registered a case of gang rape into allegations leveled by an inmate, who claimed to have escaped with Khushbu by scaling the boundary walls of Bal Kunj.
